Why take a gastronomic route through Anaga?
A tour through the laurel forest and lunch in Anaga is a rich experience. As well as delving into the history of the Canary Islands and its ancestors with authorised guides, you will learn first-hand about some of our traditions, and getting to know the Laurisilva Forest and its flavour is a unique opportunity!
What can we see on the tour?
The Tour of Anaga and its gastronomy starts at one of the most outstanding viewpoints in Anaga. There we will give a short historical introduction of Tenerife and how it was formed. We will continue through the laurel forest to discover its flora and fauna as well as pre-colonial and colonial experiences.
Afterwards we will enjoy a delicious Canarian lunch. Fancy a taste of Canarian food km0?
- For starters you can choose vegetable cream or salad.
- For the main course: if you are more of a meat lover, you can try the “carne de fiesta” and for fish “tuna in mojo sauce with wrinkled potatoes. Both dishes are typical of our gastronomy.
- Last but not least, lemon cream.
The menu is accompanied by bread, water and a glass of wine.
The meeting point is at the Cruz del Carmen. If you leave the centre of the San Cristobal de La Laguna, the viewpoint is 15 minutes away by car. If transport is needed we arrange departures from the north and south of the island.
What to take to the tour?
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes and some warm clothes.
The duration of the walk is approximately one and a half hours.

What to do after the activity?
After the tour of Anaga and its gastronomy you have some options. If you fancy a drive to the beach, the drive up the mountain of Las Mercedes to the village of Taganana is breathtaking. On the way you will see how the trade winds blow through the mountain. There you can also have a drink at Casa Africa and see the black sandy beaches. It’s about an hour’s drive. If you fancy something closer we recommend you to go to Punta de Hidalgo, a swim in its natural pools is something unique. There you will also find different pools and the Punta de Hidalgo lighthouse. A special place to end the day.
