Why Stand Up Paddle for beginners?
Stand Up Paddle is one of the trendiest sports nowadays. It combines fitness and fun. In addition, Playa de las Teresitas, thanks to its stone barrier, is perfect for this type of sport because it prevents the waves from moving you too much. Its spectacular views will make you disconnect for an hour from the hustle of the city.
What does the Stand Up Paddle beginners course consist of?
The course lasts one hour. It is about discovering this sport, one of the most complete exercises, aerobic and anaerobic. You work everything, from the waist up, it is similar to kayaking, and from the bottom, the legs are in constant movement. Without noticing, you will achieve more balance and stability.
Meeting point
Las Teresitas Beach. Go at the end of the beach, 40 meters aprox. from the end of the parking.
Duration
This activity lasts one hour. If you want to continue afterwards, you can rent the board, if available.
What to take on the route?
It is important to bring a swimming costume and sun cream. If you wish, you can do this activity with a T-shirt, but it will get wet.

Some curiosities of Las Teresitas Beach:
- The beach used to be black sand
- There was an ideal current for surfing.
- In 1973 the stones were removed. It took five million sacks of blond sand brought from the Sahara.This is equivalent to 270.000 tons.
- In 1998, 25 years after its inauguration, 2,800 tons of sand, also brought from the Sahara, had to be replaced.

After the Stand Up Paddle you can continue with other activities such as kayaking, you can rent them. Or chill and have a drink at one of the beach bars. If you feel like eating fish, just a few minutes walk from the beach you will find the fishing village of San Andrés. Places like El Petón or La Pandorga will not leave you indifferent. As well as discovering one of the fortifications that forms part of the history of the Canary Islands. Fifteen minutes from the beach is the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. There you can see commemorative sites such as the Plaza de España or El Castillo Negro (an important part of the history of the Canary Islands). A walk around the Auditorium or a stroll through the García Sanabria Park will not leave you indifferent. In the city centre you can go shopping, especially in Calle Castillo. To finish off, enjoy a delicious dinner at El Caramba or El Bárbaro.
