Why you should visit Viñatigo Winery?
Throughout its more than 30 years of history, the Viñatigo winery has become an important player in the world of wine. That’s why a tasting of their Canarian wines and a visit to the winery will not leave you indifferent. They started in 1990 in the typical Canarian house of the grandparents and seven years later, thanks to their growth and their numerous trips to the main wine-growing areas, they had to change their production site to the outskirts of La Guancha. The current building has been built using the local volcanic stone and aged tiles. The fact that they work on three levels means that the raw material is handled as little as possible and gravity does its work, with excellent results.
What can we see during the visit?
The visit starts with a tour explaining the different types of grapes, their characteristics and more. Everything from where it comes from, from the very earth located right there, a marvel of nature! Then we will take a walk through the winery, its history, the history of Canarian wine and its charms. Finally, we will see where and how they are made. Finally, we will have a tasting of canary wines and an oenologist will explain the particularities of each wine.
Curiosities of the winery
- The winery is reached through a volcanic cone with a wooden ramp.
- You will taste the wines in a volcanic environment, as is the island of Tenerife.
- The volcanic rock itself acts as natural insulation.
Meeting point
The meeting point is at Bodegas Viñátigo, La Guancha.

Bodegas Viñátigo
La Guancha
La Guancha dates back to Guanche times. Its name comes from a tragic story, when the conquerors came at the end of the 14th century, they found a beautiful lady in the fountain of the village, she was frightened when she saw them and went to take refuge in the laurel forest. The captain ordered to capture her because he had fallen in love, so she decided to throw herself down the ravine. That is where they decided to name it “Fuente de La Guancha”, that means La Guancha fountain.
It is located on the northern slopes of Tenerife, between San Juan de la Rambla and Icod de los Vinos. It has three population centres spread throughout its territory, the urban area and the coastal neighbourhoods of Santa Catalina and Santo Domingo.
