Why do this route?
The Route from Anaga to Punta de Hidalgo going down part of Anaga and reaching the coast is one of the best hiking experiences on the island of Tenerife. It combines the Laurisilva forest with a descent to the coast. We will walk through ravines while we contemplate wonderful views such as Punta del Hidalgo and its lighthouse or the whole coast of that area. You will see how the flora of Anaga changes as you go down, it is something impressive!
What does this hike consist of?
The route starts in Cruz del Carmen and ends in Punta de Hidalgo. We will start by seeing the laurel forest, and we will start descending through the ravine. The route goes through a sheep farm, so we will also see some animals. On the way we will pass by one of the farmhouses in Chinamada for an authentic Canarian feast. The views are breathtaking, with perfect vantage points to take a picture and breathe in the fresh air.
Meeting point
The meeting point is in Cruz del Carmen, see the map. If transport is needed we arrange departures from the north and south of the island.
Duration
This activity lasts five hours, 10.2 kilometres. It is a 1300 meters descent.
What to take on the route?
You should wear suitable clothes for hiking and sports or trekking shoes. We recommend not to wear jeans. Depending on the time of the year some warm clothes may be needed.

The activity finish at 4pm at the starting point, Cruz del Carmen. After the route from Anaga to Punta de Hidalgo you can go back down with your car and take a swim at Punta del Hidalgo. It is also the perfect place to have a drink after a walk of the maritime promenade of La Punta de Hidalgo. Another recommendation is to go to the natural pools of Bajamar and have something to eat at La Cofradía de Pescadores there.
A complete different plan may be going to La Laguna, for a beer or two, at their many places in the center. Be careful, after the sunset may be a little cold, take some warm clothes.Finally, if you feel like eating Canarian food, in La Laguna you will find several places like Bodegón Viana.
